Atho Ibrae.
Nutritionist. Mum.
"I spent years treating the wrong type of PCOS — as a qualified nutritionist. I built this so other women don't have to."
I was doing everything right. And getting worse.
In 2022, I sat in a specialist's office being told that having a baby might be "very difficult." I had spent years studying nutrition — how food affects hormones, how inflammation drives disease, how the gut connects to everything. This was my profession. It was what I knew.
And I couldn't figure out how to heal my own body.
I had done everything right. I was eating clean. I was exercising — hard, consistently. I was taking every supplement that every PCOS article recommended. I was tracking my cycle, managing my stress, prioritising sleep. I had the knowledge. I had the tools. I had the motivation.
And I was getting worse, not better. My cycles were chaotic — sometimes absent for months at a time. My weight wasn't responding to anything I tried. My skin was the worst it had been since my teens. I was exhausted in a way that sleep didn't fix. And underneath all of it, there was this quiet, persistent fear that my body was simply broken beyond repair.
"I had been treating a type I didn't know I had, with a protocol designed for an entirely different type."The problem wasn't effort. The problem wasn't knowledge. The problem was that every protocol I had followed was built for the average PCOS woman — and there is no average PCOS woman.
There are four distinct root causes. Four different biological mechanisms. What heals insulin-resistant PCOS can actively worsen adrenal PCOS. What works for inflammatory PCOS is nearly the opposite of what works for post-pill PCOS. I had been following protocols built for the wrong category of my own condition.
When I finally identified my actual root cause — when I matched the approach to the specific mechanism that was driving my symptoms — everything started to shift.
I stopped the habits that were making my specific type worse, including some I had believed were helping me. I restructured my eating around the time of day that my body was most insulin-sensitive. I replaced the high-intensity exercise I had believed was mandatory with a programme that actually lowered my cortisol instead of spiking it.
Within months — not years — my cycles began to regulate. My energy came back in a way it hadn't for years. The weight started to respond. My skin cleared.
"And three years later, I held my daughter for the first time. She is stubborn and loud and completely perfect."I am sharing this not to be inspirational in a vague motivational sense. I am sharing it because I know — from the inside, not just professionally — how gaslighting PCOS can be. How devastating it is to keep doing the right things and getting the wrong results. How isolating it feels to have multiple doctors tell you there is nothing more to be done.
The right information, specific to your type, changes everything. That is not a marketing line. It is exactly what happened to me. And it is why I built The PCOS Protocol.
Why this works when everything else hasn't.
Three principles that separate the The PCOS Protocol approach from every generic PCOS guide.
Root cause, not symptom management
Every recommendation starts with the specific biological mechanism driving your type — insulin, immune activation, adrenal dysfunction, or post-pill recalibration. Managing symptoms without addressing the mechanism produces temporary results at best.
Evidence-based, always cited
Nothing in The PCOS Protocol is included without clinical evidence behind it. Every supplement recommendation, every lifestyle intervention, and every nutrition strategy is drawn from primary research — not wellness convention or anecdotal experience.
Type-specific, not generic
The approach that works for insulin-resistant PCOS can worsen adrenal PCOS. Generic PCOS advice fails because it ignores this distinction. The PCOS Protocol is built around four separate tracks — and you follow the one that matches your root cause.
Clinical knowledge meets lived experience.
The PCOS Protocol is grounded in both formal nutritional science training and years of clinical and personal experience with PCOS management.
Nutritionist
Trained in nutritional science with a specialisation in hormonal health and endocrine conditions.
67 Clinical References
Every recommendation in The Protocol traces back to primary peer-reviewed research, including the 2026 Lancet PMOS consensus paper.
Lived Experience
Diagnosed with PCOS. Experienced the failure of generic approaches. Found the type-specific solution. Became a mum. Built the resource she needed.
